I think there’s a real judgment about what are creative activities and what aren’t.
I know that creating a picture is creative. I know that creating a song is creative. I know that knitting a sweater is creative. Baking a cake.
But what about learning Quickbooks?
I think many people would exclude learning bookkeeping software from the realm of creativity.
But I think for me that it is marshalling my most creative abilities to sit and learn Quickbooks. I have a tangible feeling of Flow. I have a tangible feeling of getting somewhere, I have a strong sense of accomplishment and of overcoming resistance!! and of doing the slow creative work of building my business.
Building a business is creative. You are creating something out of nothing. In some cases, “nothing” is belied by hundreds of thousands of dollars in investment… I’m perversely glad that I have not received any such grand funding (yet), because it forces me to be a magician.
Most creative.
Most resourceful.
